Widmeyer Announces Hubbard as New Senior VP

Brings Solid Background in Corporate Communications,

Public Affairs To Firm's PreK-12 Education Practice

NEW YORK - Katherine Bibb Hubbard, a high-ranking former executive at Scholastic, Inc. and most recently director of Innovation America, has joined Widmeyer Communications as Vice President in the firm’s PreK-12 education practice.

Most recently, Hubbard directed a National Governors Association (NGA) policy initiative, Innovation America on behalf of Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano. The focus of Innovation America  is aimed at strengthening K-12 science and technology efforts and aligning colleges and universities to economic development as well as supporting providing the nation’s governors with best practices and strategies tied to global competitiveness and innovation.

Before directing Governor Napolitano’s initiative, Hubbard was at Scholastic where she served as director of government relations and media relations and served as Chief of Staff to Richard Robinson, CEO and Chairman. While at Scholastic, she orchestrated initiatives to strengthen relationships with educators, re-designed and launched Scholastic’s global branding system, managed corporate media relations, and directed public policy relationships with key national education stakeholder associations.

“Widmeyer Communications continues to invest in top-tier talent and having Bibb join us is a major contribution to our current corporate and non-profit client roster. And, her addition will be attractive to others who are looking to Widmeyer for high-level strategic counsel, “said Scott Widmeyer, chairman of Widmeyer Communications.

Hubbard’s professional career began in Washington where she was director of special projects in the Clinton White House Office of Cabinet Affairs as well as working for three years in the U.S. Department of Labor under former Secretary Robert Reich.

Hubbard graduated cum laude from Dickinson College with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and she completed an executive program in brand management at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Hubbard serves on the board of City Year New York, furthering her commitment to excellence and opportunity for all in education.
Hubbard will be based in Widmeyer’s growing New York operation where she will focus business development efforts around education, philanthropy and corporate social responsibility. Initially, Hubbard will provide strategic counsel to a number of the firm’s New York-based clients including Channel Thirteen/WNET and the American Museum of Natural History.
