Mental Health and Risk Communication Hospital Preparedness:
New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
The Consortium helped this department train the city’s bioterrorism coordinators, clinical staff and administrative personnel to be better prepared for a high risk situation and to communicate effectively with its partners, the community and with the media. A crisis guide, Communicating in a Health Emergency, was developed as a quick reference for New York City clinical and mental health professionals to use to communicate with internal and external audiences during public health emergencies and other disasters.
