Widmeyer Communications Welcomes Former Coleman Staffer Emily Roper
WASHINGTON, DC - Widmeyer Communications recently announced the appointment of Emily Roper, who joins the public affairs firm as an Account Manager.
“We are excited about the expertise and ideas Emily brings to the table,” said Joe Clayton, President and CEO of the independent communications firm with offices in Manhattan and Washington, D.C. “Her experience on the Hill and with trade associations makes her an especially valuable addition to our team.”
Before joining Widmeyer, Roper served as Deputy Press Secretary for United States Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN) where she developed and coordinated local, state and national media campaigns on a variety of issues including renewable energy, stem cell research and rural health care initiatives. She also directed Senator Coleman’s weekly communication calls with state and local media outlets and coordinated efforts to produce video and audio content for media and other stakeholders.
Prior to her work with Senator Coleman, Roper served as the Assistant Director of Communications for the American Tort Reform Association, a membership association dedicated to stopping lawsuit abuse.
Roper is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds a B.A. in Political Science. While at UVA, Roper served as an editorial assistant for well known political commentator Dr. Larry J. Sabato’s book Midterm Madness: The Elections of 2002.
